Does the HN-31 lens hood fit the new 85mm f/1.4 AF-S G lens?

The HN-31 lens hood was originally designed for the 85mm f/1.4 AF-D lens. It's made of metal and has screw mount.

The hood supplied with the new 85mm f/1.4 AF-S "G" lens is bayonet-mount and made of plastic. This particular bayonet-mount design is completely lame, and as a result, the supplied hood keeps falling off.

I would like to go back to the HN-31 hood on the "G" lens, (which replaced my old "D" lens), if this hood fits the "G" lens.

Answer:

Since both 85mm/1,4 D and G are on 77mm srew-on filter size, the HN-31 will fit the G lens.
But you loose the easiness that give the bayonet hood, that you can store reversed, safely and neatly.
The screw-on HB-31 is not easy to store in either position, and long to remove.
